GPA Walk-A-Thon raises more than $6,500 to support Playworks

On June 2, GPA’s 2nd Annual Walk-a-Thon raised more than $6,500 for the school’s Playworks program. The fundraising total includes a $2,000 donation from Bruce Houghton of Houghton Chemical, an Allston-based company.

Kindergarten classroom #17 won a frozen yogurt party for raising the most money. In addition, the top five student fundraisers earned prizes:

1. Liam Rushe

2. Jakari Fernandes

3. Krishan Eskew

4. Natalie Mendez

5. Sebastian Sanchez (tie)

5. Alexander Williams (tie)

The event, designed to support the school’s commitment to health and wellness, was sponsored by the GPA Parent Council and Hispanic Coffee Hour. Special thanks to parent Rita Vaidya; school nurse Dana Ulrich; Lauren Fogarty, Director of Extended Learning Time; and Elba Mendez, Parent and Family Engagement Director, for their leadership.

Thank you to everyone who walked, sponsored, and volunteered!
