GPA students help open new Faneuil Hall Visitor Center

Historic Faneuil Hall recently underwent a major renovation, and Gardner Pilot Academy students had a front-row seat at its grand reopening today.

The first-floor marketplace at Faneuil Hall is now home to a high-tech National Park Service Visitor Center, where visitors from around the world can get information about the historic sites in Boston. US Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Mayor Thomas M. Menino, and other dignitaries presided over a dedication ceremony today.

National Park Service officials invited 70 GPA third and fourth grade students to attend the ceremony and hosted the students at four historic sites along the Freedom Trail.
