“Put Your Hands Up for GPA” a great success!

Thanks to hundreds of dedicated parents, staff, students, friends, partners, donors, and other supporters, “Put Your Hands Up for GPA!”, our annual community celebration raised more than $7,000 to support our award-winning after-school program. We are grateful to Harvard University for hosting this special event.

We were honored to present the Gardner Champion Award to Lisa Moellman (pictured below with principal Erica Herman) for her years of service to students and staff in the after-school program. Lisa, a former Associate Director of Campus Engagement and Research in Schools in the Harvard Office of Public Affairs & Communications, is a founding member of GPA’s Governing Board.

“When the GPA says they serve the whole child, the whole community, they do,” Lisa said after receiving the award. “The willingness to be open, to listen, to collaborate and truly partner is in the very ethos, heart, and soul of every person in that place, through the leadership, the student body, the faculty and the parents.”

Special thanks to third grade students from the after-school program (pictured above), who entertained the crowd with songs in honor of Black History Month.

Congratulations to Paolo Zaldivar, a GPA parent, winner of the grand prize in our raffle: two round-trip tickets on JetBlue Airways!
