Author James Patterson donates $2,500 to GPA library

Gardner Pilot Academy has been awarded a $2,500 grant from best-selling author James Patterson to support our school library. The Scholastic Reading Club will match the donation with “bonus points” that GPA teachers can use to acquire books and other classroom materials. GPA students in grades 4-8 will help select the books. Our application was selected from among 28,000 grant-seekers nationwide.

Mr. Patterson will donate a total of $1.75 million in personal funds to make books and reading a priority in schools across the country. In the first-ever partnership of its kind, Mr. Patterson joined forces with Scholastic Reading Club to administer funding applications to their network of 62,000 schools and 800,000 teachers. The first $500,000 of Mr. Patterson’s donation was awarded to 127 school libraries.
