Spotlight on Power Lunch at GPA

Boston Partners in Education highlighted Gardner Pilot Academy in a blog post about its Power Lunch program, featuring an interview with Lauren Fogarty, Director of Extended Learning Time at GPA. Power Lunch brings volunteers from Abt Associates, The Bulfinch Companies, and Genzyme Corporation to the school every week to read to and mentor first-third grade students.

Peoples Bank supports social justice education at GPA

Peoples Federal Savings Bank recently donated $5,000 to Gardner Pilot Academy to support social justice projects at the school.  The funds will purchase read-aloud books for classrooms focused on culturally responsive teaching and social justice topics. GPA strives to have students understand the importance of giving back and helping to make our world a better place. Recent GPA News

It’s been an exciting fall at Gardner Pilot Academy, with many innovative events and activities to engage students and families in learning and enrichment. Here’s just a sample of some of our recent happenings: On Friday, December 9, GPA hosted the first Showcase of Arts Enrichment.  Every Friday, the entire school engages in enrichment activities for the first hour of the school day. Students participate in activities like ballroom dancing, capeoira, African drumming, hip hop dancing, sports, and visual arts with the Museum of Fine Arts. GPA earns Promising Practices Award for arts instruction

EdVestors has presented Gardner Pilot Academy with a $10,000 Promising Practices Award through the Boston Public Schools Arts Expansion Initiative. The award recognizes seven schools that meet or exceed the goal of providing 100% of students with at least once weekly, year-long arts instruction and, additionally, have lessons and examples to share with other schools regarding how to make arts alive and sustainable.
