Gardner Pilot Academy is becoming a K-8 school!

GPA has been approved to expand from an elementary school to a K-8 program, beginning with the addition of Grade 6 in September 2012 and Grades 7-8 in subsequent years. School staff are working closely with district officials to assess space capacity, as well as budget and staffing needs, to offer continuity of programs from pre-kindergarten through grade 8. GPA earns Promising Practices Award for arts instruction

EdVestors has presented Gardner Pilot Academy with a $10,000 Promising Practices Award through the Boston Public Schools Arts Expansion Initiative. The award recognizes seven schools that meet or exceed the goal of providing 100% of students with at least once weekly, year-long arts instruction and, additionally, have lessons and examples to share with other schools regarding how to make arts alive and sustainable.

Boston Partners in Education has recognized two longstanding Gardner Pilot Academy business partners for their volunteer efforts at the school. Mark R. DiOrio and Kerin O. Petitti from The Bulfinch Companies, Inc., are the recipients of the 2011 Joyna Bozzotto Award. DiOrio and Petitti are General Counsel and Legal Assistant, respectively, at the Needham-based real estate investment and development firm.
