Proceeds from this event will support the health and wellness of our students and families at Gardner Pilot Academy. The Allston neighborhood is among the top three areas of Boston with the highest poverty rate with 37% of Allston residents living below the poverty line. The number one reason why students visit the school nurse is related to physical symptoms related to hunger. Our goal is to raise funds for a kitchen with all the necessary equipment to serve our students and their families FREE hot meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Currently we have a satellite cafeteria where food is shipped to the school in plastic packages. The current model does not allow us to serve fresh food or provide food options to our students. A new kitchen would allow us to serve free hot breakfast, lunch and dinner to all of our 400 students and any of their siblings during the entire school year and within our summer program.
We hope you will join us on May 4th to “Raise some Dough” for GPA’s new kitchen!
